Sport Programs

Special Olympics BC programs give athletes the chance to gain skills in sport and in life, while improving their health and enjoying training for competitions at local through international levels. But the benefits go well beyond the basics. Through Special Olympics, athletes experience joy and acceptance, cultivate friendships and self-confidence, and feel empowered to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

Special Olympics BC – Salt Spring Island started their programs in 1993. As an Island itself, the volunteers and coaches work diligently to ensure the athletes have the opportunity to attend several events and competitions on Vancouver Island. This Local also plays host to a summertime bocce tournament, keeping Special Olympics athletes from a number of communities active through the summer months!

In a usual year this Local offers: Bocce, Club Fit, Golf, and Swimming.

If you are interested in joining as an athlete or volunteer, please reach out to the contacts below.
