Mental Health and Substance Use Services - Southern Gulf Islands

Part of Island Health, the Southern Gulf Islands Mental Health and Substance Use Team offers assessment and treatment for adults with mental health and substance use concerns to residents of Salt Spring Island and the other southern Gulf Islands. 

Fully integrated with the Island Health network of medical, psychiatric and psychological treatment providers, the team offers a range of services from short-term counselling for those in crisis, long-term case management for those with more serious and persistent mental illness and the assessment and treatment of alcohol and drug use problems.

After hours crisis intervention and support provided on an on-call basis at Lady Minto Hospital or by phone from 4:00 pm to midnight.

Referrals are available through a GP or by phone for a self referral.
